Agreeing to these terms

The Parsnip app and parsnipusa.com (together, “Parsnip”) are operated by Parsnip, LLC (“we” or “us”). By downloading, installing or using the app, or using this website, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Parsnip.

Who can use Parsnip

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use Parsnip. It is made for parents, legal guardians and other adults measuring a child with a parent's or guardian's permission. Parsnip is not for children to use themselves.

What Parsnip does

Parsnip helps you measure a child's foot with your phone's camera and AR sensors, or type in a length you already have, and then shows suggested sizes: US kids, UK and EU, and sizes for individual brands.

You take the measurement. You position the phone, mark the heel and toe, and choose how much wiggle room to add. Parsnip does the math on what you captured and suggests sizes from it.

Sizes are estimates

Every measurement and size Parsnip shows is an estimate, not a guarantee. Accuracy depends on your phone, the lighting, the floor, whether your child holds still, and where the heel and toe marks land. Brands size differently from one another, and often from one style, width or season to the next, and they change their charts without telling us.

Before you buy, check the brand's own size chart. When you can, have your child try shoes on, or buy from a seller with an easy return policy. We aren't responsible for shoes that don't fit, or for the cost of returns or exchanges.

Not medical advice

Parsnip is a shoe-sizing tool. It is not a medical device, not a professional fitting, and not a substitute for advice from a doctor, podiatrist or other qualified professional. Fit tips in the app are general information. If you have any concern about your child's feet, gait or development, talk to a professional.

Brands, stores & links

Parsnip names brands and retailers and links to their kids' shoes so you can find the right size. Brand and retailer names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners. Parsnip, LLC is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any brand or retailer shown, unless we clearly say otherwise.

Brand sizing in Parsnip is based on publicly available size charts and our own research. It may be incomplete or out of date, and a brand's own chart always takes priority.

Tapping a brand or store link takes you to a third-party website or app that we don't control. Its terms, privacy policy, products, prices, availability, shipping and returns are its own. Anything you buy there is between you and that seller.

Some links may be affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes the size Parsnip suggests.

Your account

Signing in is optional and goes through Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. You're responsible for keeping your phone and that account secure. You can delete your Parsnip account at any time from the Account screen; the Privacy Policy explains exactly what that removes.

Using Parsnip fairly

Please don't:

• Copy, modify, sell or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer or decompile it, except where the law expressly allows
• Interfere with, overload or try to get around the security of Parsnip or our servers
• Try to access data that isn't meant for you
• Scrape or bulk-copy Parsnip's brand sizing data, or use Parsnip for a commercial service of your own
• Send feedback that is abusive, misleading or unlawful
• Use Parsnip in any way that breaks the law

Our content

The Parsnip™ name and logo, the app, this website and their content — including our brand sizing data, design and text — belong to Parsnip, LLC and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-transferable license, which we can revoke, to use the app on devices you own or control, in line with these terms and the rules of the app store you got it from. We keep all rights we don't expressly give you.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely, without any obligation to you.

Changes to Parsnip

We may add, change or remove features, update brand data, or stop offering Parsnip at any time. We don't promise that the app or this website will always be available or free of errors.

Disclaimers

Parsnip is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that any measurement or size will be accurate, or that any shoe will fit.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Parsnip, LLC and its owners, employees and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, for lost profits, data or goodwill, or for the cost of shoes, returns or exchanges, arising from or related to your use of Parsnip.

Our total liability for any claim relating to Parsnip is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Parsnip in the 12 months before the claim (Parsnip is free, so usually nothing) or US $50.

Some places don't allow some of these limits. Where that's the case, they apply only as far as the law allows.

If you misuse Parsnip

If your misuse of Parsnip, or your breaking these terms, leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the resulting losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

App store terms

If you got Parsnip from Apple's App Store or Google Play, that store's terms also apply. These terms are between you and Parsnip, LLC only — not Apple or Google — and Parsnip, LLC, not Apple or Google, is responsible for the app and its content.

For the iPhone and iPad app specifically:

• Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property.
• You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Ending use

You can stop using Parsnip at any time by deleting the app, and delete your account from the Account screen. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. The sections on our content, disclaimers, limits on liability, misuse and governing law keep applying after that.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it locally.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date above, and for significant changes we'll say so in the app or on this website. If you keep using Parsnip after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

The rest

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Parsnip. If any part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given up the right to later. You can't transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours, for example if Parsnip changes ownership.
