Overview

Podo is an iOS app that measures your foot using your phone's camera and AR sensors, and converts that measurement into a shoe size.

Most of what Podo does happens entirely on your device. The sections below cover the one part that doesn't: a small, anonymous stream of measurement data we use to make the app more accurate over time.

Measurement data

Each time you complete a measurement with Precision Tap or Picture Tap, Podo sends a single record to our server containing:

  • The measured length, in centimetres
  • For Picture Tap: the camera's tilt angle and height above the floor at capture
  • Your device model and iOS version (for example, "iPhone 15 Pro · iOS 18.1")
  • The app version you're running

This record isn't tied to your name, an account, or any identifier — it's a number and some device context, nothing that points back to you. We use it to see how measurement accuracy holds up across different phones and to catch regressions between app versions.

If your phone is offline when a measurement completes, the record is queued on your device and sent the next time the app has a connection — nothing is lost, and nothing blocks your measurement from saving.

Manually typed-in measurements (the "type your length" option) are never sent anywhere — sizing happens entirely on your device.

Feedback

Podo includes an optional feedback box. If you write and send a message, that text — along with your device model and app version — is sent to our server so we can read it. Nothing is sent unless you type a message and tap send.

Please don't include personal information (your name, email, etc.) in a feedback message unless you want us to have it — we can't reply to you directly, since Podo doesn't collect a way to contact you back. If you do include personal details and later want them removed, email support@podousa.com and we'll delete the message.

What stays on your device

Your saved measurement history lives only in the app's local storage on your phone. We never receive it. You can clear it at any time from within the app, and deleting the app removes it completely.

If you've added kid profiles to track measurements for more than one child, those names stay on your device too — the app is built so that nothing identifying a child is sent anywhere, including to us.

The Account screen

Podo includes an Account screen. Anything you enter there — including an email address, if you add one — is stored locally on your phone and never sent to us or anyone else. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password.

Camera & photos

Podo asks for camera access to power its AR measurement tools. That access is used entirely on your device — Apple's ARKit and Vision frameworks locate the floor and your foot in real time, and any photo captured during a measurement is processed and discarded on-device. No image is ever uploaded, stored on a server, or seen by anyone but you.

Our infrastructure

The measurement and feedback records described above are stored using Supabase, a database provider we use to run our backend. Supabase's own infrastructure may log standard technical information as part of handling any web request — for example, an IP address — independent of the data described here. That logging is governed by Supabase's privacy policy.

This website

podousa.com sets no tracking cookies. There is no advertising pixel, no analytics script, and no third party watching you read this page.

The only thing we keep in your browser is your light or dark theme choice, stored locally so the site remembers it next time. That never leaves your device and is not tied to you.

If you join the waitlist, we keep the email address you type — that is the one piece of personal information this site collects, and only because you chose to give it. We use it for one thing: to tell you when Podo is available, including if the launch timing changes. We don't sell it, rent it, or share it with anyone, and we don't send anything else. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time at support@podousa.com.

What we don't collect

  • No sign-up, password, or login — nothing entered on the Account screen leaves your phone
  • No location data — Podo doesn't request location access
  • No advertising identifiers and no ad network integrations
  • No third-party analytics SDKs — there is no analytics or advertising code embedded in Podo
  • No access to your photo library or contacts

The measurement and feedback records described above are the only data Podo itself sends to our server. Two other things do leave your phone, and each has its own section: the standard technical information any internet connection reveals to our hosting provider, and the measured length passed to a retailer's site when you tap a store link.

Children

Podo is made for parents and guardians. It is intended for use by adults, it is not directed to children, and children are not its intended users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Podo is used to measure a child's foot, so here is exactly what happens to that information.

  • Profile names stay on your device. When you set up a profile for a child, the name you enter is stored only on your phone. It is not transmitted to us, and we never see it.
  • Measurement history stays on your device. It is stored locally and is not uploaded.
  • What we do receive is not connected to a child. As described in Measurement data, an anonymous record of each camera measurement is sent to us: the measured length, the capture angle and height, your device model, your iOS version, and the app version. It contains no name, no account, and no identifier that would let us recognize a person, or connect one measurement to another.
  • Standard technical information reaches our hosting provider. As described in Our infrastructure, our hosting provider records ordinary technical information including IP address, as nearly all internet services do. We do not use that information to identify a child or to build a profile of any user.

Because Podo has no accounts and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, there is normally nothing about your child held on our systems for a parent to review or delete. Your child's profile and measurement history live on your phone: deleting the profile in the app, or deleting the app, removes them.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, or if you have any question about how Podo handles information relating to children, contact us at support@podousa.com. We will respond promptly and delete any such information we find.

Your choices

You can clear your saved measurement history and kid profiles from within the app at any time. Uninstalling Podo removes everything stored on your device.

Measurement records we receive aren't linked to your name, an account, or any identifier, so there is no profile of you on our side to look up or correct.

Feedback messages work differently. A feedback message contains whatever you chose to type, which may include personal details if you included them. If you'd like one removed, email support@podousa.com with roughly when you sent it and what it said, and we'll find it and delete it.

If you joined the waitlist and want your email address removed, you can unsubscribe from any email we send, or write to support@podousa.com.

Changes to this policy

If what Podo collects changes, this page will change with it. We'll update the effective date above whenever that happens.
